Full Manuscript Services

General starting rates. These prices may go up or down depending on your manuscript's specific needs. 

Our rates are placed beside those of the industry so that you may see how our prices compare.

We accept all fiction and nonfiction manuscripts (except erotica).

All edits will include a track change copy and a polished, clean copy.

Content/Story Editing (Developmental)

A detailed and focused edit on plot, pacing, character development, consistency, and other "big picture" issues in either an outline, partial, or complete manuscript. This is for the author who wants to stand out from the competition to both publishers and the market at large.

.4 cents per word. (Industry standard rate starts at 3.6 cents a word) 

Copy Editing 

A fine and heavily focused edit encompassing spelling, grammar, repetitive words/phrases, punctuation, and hard-to-spot details. This is a polish on your manuscript that will remove the "indie stigma" often associated with self-published works.

.55 cents per word. (Industry standard rate starts at 3.2 cents a word)

Formatting/Book Layout

This service provides completely formatted files of your manuscript for all major e-book (and some print) outlets. All you have to do is upload the file to the corresponding site. These outlets include (but are not limited to): Amazon, BarnesAndNoble.com, Kobo, Smashwords, Apple, Sony, D2D, and CreateSpace.

 0.15 cents a word. (Industry standard rate starts  at 1.8 cents a word)

Analysis Report

This is an in-depth critique of your manuscript for a low, flat rate. This service is very valuable for those who are trying to curb their spending. We will read your complete manuscript a minimum of two times and then write you a detailed letter outlining the pros and cons of your work, including what steps need to be taken to make it a success. This analysis is similar to what you would receive from an agent or a publishing house. Further note that this is a general edit, so no marks will be made to the manuscript itself.

For books under 100K words - flat rate of $200.

For books over 100K words - please contact us for a quote.

Bundle Options

You may bundle any of the services above for a discount. For example, if you want copy editing AND content/story editing, we will do BOTH for .80 cents a word (instead of .95 cents a word). Please tell us in the contact form below what you would like to bundle together.

Synopsis Critique

This service is to help authors devise a synopsis that will give their work that extra shine. We will read your synopsis, analyze it, and then provide a small report on what changes should be made.

The First Ten Pages Analysis

The first ten pages of any manuscript are essential for hooking the reader into the story. With this service, we will read the first ten pages of your work, examine it for any flaws, and then provide you with a report on how you can further engage your readers from the get-go. Please note that this is a general edit, so no changes will be made to the document itself.

Counseling Services

We can help you beyond the editing and formatting process. With our counseling services, we can speak with you personally (through an approved medium of your choice) and advise you on how to best attract your readers, where to market and why, what promotions you can implement on your own, what categories to place your book in, etc. We will also provide you with a report or exhaustive list on what we have discussed. Publishing Services

If you are interested in self-publishing but have no desire to take focus away from your writing, we can do all the legwork for you. We are able to set up an account for you on any of the sites listed below, publish your work, and then hand over full control to you as the sole owner. We can publish for you on the following e-book sites: Amazon, BarnesAndNoble.com, Kobo, Sony, D2D, and Smashwords. Turnaround Times for Partial Manuscript Services:

Synopsis Critique: 4 business days from securement of both payment and associated files.

First Ten Pages Analysis: 7 business days from securement of both payment and associated files.

Cancellations and Reservations:

Instead of having a cancellation fee like most freelance editors, we have a reservation fee. 20% of the quoted full cost of the project must be paid up-front as a reservation fee. This is in place should any circumstances arise in which you must cancel an agreed-upon contract with us. If the project is seen through to completion, the reservation fee will be subtracted from the total amount owed to us.

Late Fees:

Typically, clients will have 15 days to pay what they owe on an invoice we send. If the owed amount is not paid after 30 days, a 2% interest charge will be added to the total amount owed. Further interest (of 2%) will continue to accrue every 30 days that the total amount is not paid. (Example: If a client owes $100 and does not pay, after 30 days they will be given a new invoice for $102. If another 30 days pass with no payment, the new total will be $104.04. Interest will continue to be added monthly until the amount is paid in full.)
