Quentin Whitfield

Qualifications:

B.A. in English from the University of Connecticut with a minor in Sociology
High school English teacher for 4 years
Assistant editor-in-chief for a local newspaper for 1 year
5+ years of experience in the publishing industry (with connections still intact)
Has written 3 best-selling fiction novels (1 of them was #1 in Christian fantasy on Amazon for 4 months)
Has extensive background in editing, marketing, consulting and content analysis

Interests (on queries and editing):

I like reading adult and young adult novels equally, but my preferences in genre tend to lean towards fantasy, science fiction, crime thrillers and the supernatural/paranormal. It's a weird range, I know, but that doesn't mean I'm not open to other types of literature. One thing you'll find out about me is that I'm an extremely hard worker, putting in ridiculously long hours with few breaks. As a result, you may receive an estimation on how long a project may take, but don't be surprised if it is completed sooner than expected!

Interests (miscellaneous):

When I'm not reading or writing like a mad man, I enjoy watching anime, reading manga, playing survival horror video games, watching awesome TV shows (Breaking Bad, Survivor, The Walking Dead), and enjoying anything associated with comic books. Don't even get me started on superheroes. If you ask me about them, I'll never shut up. My favorite foods are tacos and breakfast (that's right, I said breakfast, as in, anything that falls in that category), and I listen to a wide range of music from rock to J-pop. I know. I know. More weird ranges...


Cassandra Whitfield

Qualifications:

B.S. in English Education Magna Cum Laude from the University of Connecticut
M.A. in English Education from the University of Connecticut
4+ years total experience of teaching English to a wide range of ages (including high school and secondary education)
5+ years of experience in copy editing

Interests (on queries and editing):

I have been a bookworm all my life, and a high achiever throughout my entire education. As a result, I have a thorough knowledge of all the intricate details of proper grammar, spelling, sentence construction, etc. Not only do I enjoy grammar, but it comes easily and naturally to me. I love to apply my knowledge and skills to novels and short stories, so that readers can focus on enjoying the story itself and not get tripped up by technical errors. I am a very thorough editor and a natural perfectionist, so you can rest assured that, with me, your manuscript will be in good hands!

Although I read just about any type of novel (fiction, nonfiction, adult, young adult), my favorite genre has always been young adult fiction. I also love just about anything that has a love triangle or romantic suspense! (Yes, yes, I know, how stereotypical for a female!) Despite the soft spot I have for young adult fiction and stories with romantic themes, I do still enjoy reading books from other genres too.

Interests (miscellaneous):

In addition to editing, I'm also a stay-at-home mom. Much of my free time is spent kissing boo-boos, doing laundry, and playing video games. I like to read popular novels before falling asleep. I'm in love with the show Once Upon a Time. I have a terrible sweet tooth and I like to listen to music that gets me pumped up (various genres apply)!
